These cameos were carved from pieces of mastodon ivory
dredged from a river bed by a gold mining operation in
Canada's Yukon territory. The larger piece on the left is 
2 and 3/4 inches tall (7cm) and only 1/4 inch thick (0.5cm) 
at its thickest point.
The smaller measures 1 and 1/2 inches tall (3.5cm) and 3/8ths of
an inch thick (1cm).
